Isolate the Truth from the Noise: Time to Re-imagine with Data

Isolation has been a gift.

We have been gifted the time and headspace to stop, get off the rat wheel, and assess everything – what has worked, what hasn’t, and start thinking about how we want to RE-IMAGINE ourselves, our brands and our businesses.  

How do we WANT to re-emerge post-covid?

The world has changed and so should we …but what’s the right model for this new world, for me?

In this COVID world, I launched a new venture, Maven Data. I wanted to offer the best of me as the DataWhisperer to the world of strategic market research, using big data and AI. I wanted to combine technology with people, data with emotions, to understand the world of people, as people drive decisions that impact our economy.

In 18 years working with data, there never has been more of a delicious time than now, to utilise the power of data in a way we have never done before – like a hen sitting on these golden nuggets. Let’s make some delicious cakes, omelettes, Soufflé, cocktails (yes, I’ve tried an egg yolk cocktail once and it was weirdly delicious).

I wanted to work with big thinkers and business leaders that were ready to reimagine their industry, just like how Circque du Soleil did 20 years ago when they took the stale traditional circus product and reimagined it into something relevant again.

As a data maven, I bring intelligence and insight, spoken in plain English. I translate maths to English to help leaders make better decisions about their market. I use big data and AI through a holistic lens, to help businesses deeply understand their customers and markets – deeper, through emotion. The key is deep engagement because that’s what drives people to make decisions.

Maven Data is Australia’s first strategic market research agency birthed out of the storm of uncertainty.

So to showcase the power of market data to make clear sense of the changing world, to remove the noise and chatter, and uncover strategic nuggets of opportunities, I decided to undertake research of my own. To achieve the greatest impact from this research, I chose a global mega theme that was highly relevant to the world pre-COVID. Back in January 2020, I chose to analyse the Global Wellness Industry because of 3 key things:

  • Market size (US$4.5 trillion – pre COVID)
  • Industry Breadth (wellness is core to anything related to being human),
  • Opportunity to work with cool brands in say the spa, travel, and food industries (I’m passionately partial to wellness indulgence).

Having completed this first of its kind research, little did I know that these insights would actually be even more powerful and relevant now, in a post-COVID world. Impeccable timing I say!

So I am proud as punch to release the first of its kind, global research report using AI that uncovers the top trends that will shape the wellness industry in 2020.

Our method:

I analysed 150 leading global wellness trends from keto, gut health, loneliness, sleep apnea, digital detox, wellness spa, and shamanism. Utilising the power of AI, I analysed hundreds of thousands of conversations online—petabytes of it (that’s 1,000,000,000,000,000 bytes of data). And by using natural language processing to make sense of it, I measured emotional engagement consumers have with different wellness topics and voila, golden egg nuggets were revealed.

I isolated the truth from the noise to uncover the Top 10 Transformational trends that have the deepest engagement today – these are the narratives that will shape the industry in the near future and present opportunities for brands now. I also shine a spotlight on 6 Key Industries that are gifted immediate opportunities to connect into the wellness mega theme.

Why am I so excited?

Besides the obvious (being a data nerd), I finally get a pure data-driven, unbiased measurement of deep engagement. We have insights on people like no one has done before.
